Diversity at UGA and "Circle-Jerks"

Let me pose this question before i start another critical rant:

if a school strongly emphasizes diversity on campus and there aren't different types of people to diversify, is it really diversity?

The reason I bring this up is because for as long as I have been at UGA (4 years now) , the school always talks about diversifying the campus, which is a coded phrase meaning "we want more non-atheltic black people on campus so we don't look like another redneck southern university" (at least that what I hear when they make mention of it).

So, here's what im thinking. I want you to picture this: there are, oh i don't know, like 4 groups, and for the sake of argument, we'll refer to them as "circle-jerks" (this will make more sense later, so stay with me for now). Now, of the four groups, there is one dominant group that has a very large circle. In fact, it is so large that is self-sufficient. The other two groups are not as big, but they are what I call the complacent "circle jerk" groups; they are aware that they are small, but they do with what they can. Now, there is that last group left that aren't so complacent. They are the activists of all the "circle-jerks". Now, this groups is not complacent at all. For whatever reason, this group wants to expand. They know they can't come out and say that they want to increase their own circle; it is not a "proper" request. Instead, they will blatantly lie by saying they wish to increase the size of this particular group to "diversify" all the groups. They do so by stating the obvious; the groups are segregated, and that adding more of the small group types will help the overall progress of "diversity". Being the dumb tools universaties are famous for, they bite. They agree with this theory, and declare an all-out "war on divisiveness".

This goes on year-in and year-out with no real progress. Here's what i'm getting at. Diversity is not what it's cracked up to be. You can't force people to hang out with other people just for the sake of appearance. And you can't try to pad up your minority enrollment to deceive prospects. Getting more blacks at UGA will not make for a diverse environment, it will just make the activist "circle-jerk" group bigger.
